The Farm is located west of Winfield, Alberta. My parents are also involved in the operation.
My first Purebred Black Angus females were added in 2019 and I have been slowly adding to my herd with purchases from some of the top breeders and retaining my own females.
As a kid my parents raised Purebred Black Angus and I am excited to get back into raising Angus cattle. I feel the Angus breed cannot be matched. They have incredible females that calve with ease, know how to raise a calf, the calves are up right away with plenty of vigor, have amazing carcass traits, and incredible growth.
My focus starts with having great females and trying to improve feet, calving ease, carcass traits and growth. I aim for all my bulls to be calving ease bulls without sacrificing performance.
The bulls and replacement heifers are allowed to develop based off their own genetics and are not pushed. The calves are only on grass, minerals and their mothers milk. They are weaned using Quiet Wean nose tags for a low stress wean. They are then started on alfalfa and grass hay and pellets. This allows the animals genetics to shine.
My cows are not pampered and spend the fall grazing as long as the grass and water or snow holds up, and then bale or swath graze until closer to calving time.
In addition I run a commercial herd of primarily Angus cows. This allows me to test my bulls genetics. The farm is VBP+ certified .
