Bull Development

All bulls have had Angus GS tests for genomic testing and enhanced EPD's.  This increases the accuracy of EPD's and provides more information for assessing a bulls merits

All bulls have had ultrasounds performed for Ribeye, Marbling, Carcass Weight and Fat.  This helps assess bulls that can help improve your carcass traits and increase the value of your calves, especially when sold on the grid.

All bulls have accurate birth weight, weaning weight and yearling weights recorded as well as average daily gain on dam and after weaning.

Bulls receive Vista Once and Vision 8 Somnus with Spur in the spring and again at weaning.  They received Safe-Gaurd in summer on pasture and orally at weaning.  They receive Clean-up II pour on late fall. They receive Vista 5, Vision 8 Somnus and two doses of Fusogard in the spring as yearlings.  All bulls must pass bull exam and semen test. 

All bulls health and performance are tracked on Herdtrax cattle record management software. This provides accurate records of all treatment and performance measures which is linked to dams and sires.  Any customers on herdtrax can have this information transferred to them to allow passive tracking of progeny performance in your herd and mine.

All bulls are developed on their mothers, grass, salt and mineral up until weaning in September.  No creep is fed before weaning.  Their weights are their genetics and moms milk! After low stress weaning they are then put on grass if conditions allow or on free choice hay, mineral, salt and pellets.  Bulls are not pushed and are managed to allow their genetics to shine.  Our herd is also VBP+.
